Common Computer Problems We Fix

Whatever’s going wrong with your desktop or PC, chances are we’ve seen it before. Here are some of the most common issues we deal with:

Slow Performance

Computers grinding to a halt, taking ages to boot, or struggling with basic tasks. Often caused by ageing hardware, bloated software, or malware.

Virus & Malware

Pop-ups, strange behaviour, or security warnings. See our dedicated virus & malware removal service for a full clean-up and ongoing protection advice.

Hardware Failures

Failed hard drives, faulty RAM, dead power supplies, or overheating. If a failed drive has put your files at risk, our data recovery service can usually rescue them.

Blue Screen Errors

The dreaded blue screen of death. Usually a sign of a driver conflict, failing hardware, or a corrupted Windows installation. We’ll find the cause and fix it.

Windows Issues

Update failures, startup problems, corrupted files, or a system that just won’t behave. We can repair, reinstall, or upgrade Windows as needed.

Upgrades & Speedups

Our SSD and RAM upgrades can breathe new life into an older PC for a fraction of the cost of buying new.

Computer Repair FAQs

Is it worth repairing my old computer or should I buy a new one?
That depends on the age of the machine and what’s wrong with it. In many cases, a simple upgrade like an SSD or extra RAM can make an older PC feel like new for a fraction of the cost — our honest guide to SSD upgrades in Crawley explains exactly when it’s worth doing. We’ll always give you an honest assessment — if we think a repair isn’t worth it, we’ll tell you.
Can you fix my computer remotely?
Yes, many software issues can be diagnosed and fixed remotely. This is often the quickest option and means we can sometimes help the same day you get in touch. If the problem turns out to be hardware-related, we’ll arrange an on-site visit or collection instead.
How long does a typical PC repair take?
Most software fixes take between one and two hours. Hardware repairs like replacing a hard drive or power supply are usually completed within 24 to 48 hours, depending on parts availability. We’ll give you a realistic timeframe before starting any work.
Will I lose my files during a repair?
We always do our best to preserve your data. If there’s any risk of data loss during the repair process, we’ll let you know beforehand and can back up your files first. If your hard drive has already failed, we can advise on data recovery options.
Do you fix gaming PCs?
Yes. Gaming rigs are some of the most interesting work we do — GPU faults, cooling failures, overclocking instability, power supply issues, RGB and fan problems, and full custom builds from scratch. If your gaming PC is crashing under load, running hot, or simply not performing the way it should, get in touch. We’ll diagnose the cause and advise honestly on whether it’s a repair, a parts upgrade, or a full rebuild that makes most sense.
Do you fix Apple Macs?
We focus mainly on Windows PCs and laptops. For Apple hardware issues we’ll usually recommend an Apple Authorised Service Provider, as those repairs typically need Apple-supplied parts and specialist tooling. For software problems on a Mac — slow performance, macOS reinstalls, app issues, password lock-outs — give us a call and we’ll see if we can help.
Can you upgrade my computer to Windows 11?
Yes — provided your PC meets Microsoft’s hardware requirements (TPM 2.0, a supported processor, enough RAM). If it does, we can run the upgrade, migrate your files and settings, and check everything works properly afterwards. If your machine doesn’t meet the requirements, we’ll be honest about whether it’s worth pushing ahead with a workaround installation, or whether you’d be better staying on Windows 10 for now and planning a hardware upgrade instead.
Can you collect my computer?
Yes — for hardware repairs, we’re happy to collect from your home or office in Crawley and the surrounding area, and return it once it’s fixed. For larger desktops or anything fragile, this is often the quickest option. There’s no extra charge for collection within our standard coverage area; for anything further out, we’ll quote any travel time upfront before agreeing to do it.
Is my data kept private during a repair?
Yes. We treat every machine that comes through our hands with absolute discretion — your files, photos, emails and passwords are your business, not ours. We won’t poke around in personal folders, and if a repair requires us to log in to any of your accounts (rare, but it happens) we’ll only do so with your permission and in your presence where possible. For business customers, we’re happy to provide a written confidentiality assurance covering GDPR responsibilities.
What if you can’t fix my computer?
No fix, no fee — it’s that simple. If we can’t repair the problem (or if we determine it isn’t economic to repair), you don’t pay a penny for our diagnostic time. We’ll explain what we found, what’s gone wrong, and what your options are. That might mean recovering your data and recommending a new machine, or pointing you to a specialist if it’s something we can’t handle in-house. Either way, you’ll know exactly where you stand before any money changes hands.
