No sales pitch, no scare tactics — just the same honest answers we’d give a customer who walked through our door in Crawley.

Why we write this stuff

Most of the IT advice you’ll find online is either written by someone who wants to sell you something specific, or generated by AI without any real experience to back it up. Neither is much help when your laptop won’t turn on at 9pm on a Sunday, or your Wi-Fi’s been dropping out during every video call this week.

Everything in this section is based on real jobs coming through our workshop in Crawley — the questions customers actually ask, the fixes that actually work, and the recommendations we’d genuinely make to a friend. If we think you don’t need to spend money, we’ll tell you. If we think the free option is fine, we’ll say so. That’s the whole ethos.

All the articles are written by Bradley, who runs Criddle Computer Care out of Crawley. Bradley’s been fixing computers professionally for over eight years, first in a workshop role and then running his own shop. The advice here comes from the machines that come across his bench every week — real problems, real fixes, and honest answers about what’s worth doing and what isn’t.

Who this is for

Home users, small businesses, sole traders — anyone who wants a straight answer without having to sift through forum threads and affiliate reviews. We assume you know your way around a computer at a basic level but we don’t assume you know what “TRIM” or “DHCP” means, and we won’t hide behind jargon.

If you’re a fellow IT professional and you spot something we’ve oversimplified, we probably did that on purpose. The point isn’t to teach the internals of how SSDs handle wear-levelling — it’s to help a customer decide whether the upgrade is worth £150.
