How much does an SSD upgrade cost?
The cost depends on the size of SSD you need. A 500GB SSD typically costs around £40–60, and a 1TB around £60–90. On top of that, our labour is charged at the Advanced Support rate of £49.99 per hour. Most upgrades take around an hour plus cloning time. We’ll give you a full quote before starting.
Will I lose my files?
No. We clone your entire existing drive to the new SSD, so everything transfers across exactly as it was — your files, programs, settings, and Windows. You won’t need to reinstall anything.
Can my computer or laptop be upgraded?
Most desktops and many laptops can be upgraded with an SSD and/or extra RAM. Some newer ultrabooks have soldered components that can’t be swapped, but we’ll check compatibility before you commit to anything. Just tell us the make and model and we’ll let you know.
Is it worth upgrading or should I just buy a new computer?
If your computer is less than seven or eight years old and otherwise working fine, an SSD and RAM upgrade will almost certainly give it a new lease of life for well under £150 in total. That’s a fraction of the cost of a new machine. If it’s older than that or has other issues, we’ll give you an honest recommendation.
